SEIU-UHW was there when we needed them most
“I would like to express my full support to SEIU-UHW for the positive commitment to their members. They were there when we needed them most, and they are ready to stand up and fight for our rights. Before, I thought that they weren’t doing anything good for their members, but this time I believe that SEIU-UHW is the union that we can depend on.”

SEIU-UHW stands for the worker
“I started hearing things about NUHW and decided to research it for myself. I found that I believed in SEIU-UHW and what they stood for: The Worker.”

“I am not supporting NUHW because I now know that they are just not a good union.”

Transparency and strength in SEIU-UHW
“I supported NUHW for two years. I was under the belief that NUHW had our best interest at hand. I was able to see for myself that if I wanted a strong contract I needed to step up and support SEIU-UHW instead of allowing myself to be spoon-fed the lies that had been fed to me by NUHW. It was transparency and strength that I saw from SEIU-UHW.”

NUHW has not won a contract
“During the last election, a majority of my department was confused and misled by NUHW. After the election was over, NUHW disappeared, and we noticed that representation in the department was needed. So we worked closely with our SEIU-UHW steward and as a department we began to address concerns and issues plaguing our day to day work. Through the process it was clear that our union had our back, while NUHW to this date has not won a contract and has lost for their members. Now, a majority of our department supports SEIU-UHW.”

No NUHW contracts at Kaiser
“I was a NUHW supporter for one year because Ralph (NUHW staff person) brainwashed me. I no longer support NUHW because they have no contracts for NUHW members at Kaiser.”

My excellent contract gives me peace of mind
“I was a former NUHW supporter and follower. When I came to work for Kaiser, it was for the benefits, the wages, and to better my family. Through the years I have had my ups and downs with the union but the three most important things that have never changed are my benefits, my wages, and my job security. The reason I am able to keep all of this is because of my member-driven union SEIU-UHW. It’s time for people to realize that when you came to work for Kaiser, you came for your benefits, your family and job security. My family comes first and having an excellent benefits and a great contract gives me and my family peace of mind.”

I hope NUHW members will come home like I did
“I have worked for Kaiser for 26 years. Those who know me know I am pro-union and a strong advocate for our members. They may also know that there was a short period of time when I was advocating for NUHW. That was a very frustrating time for some of us, as our union family was being divided, and with division there is weakness. I have come back to “Purple” SEIU-UHW for good, as that is where we all belong. I feel sorry for the members with NUHW who are still working for over a year without a contract, especially since SEIU-UHW was able to bargain and win two of the best contracts I have seen since I have worked here. I really hope they will come ‘Home’ like I did.”

A contract that works
“I supported NUHW during the time prior to the last election. I thought that it might be time for a change because before I felt that we didn’t have a lot of union support. Nothing major happened except that I am ready to back a union that holds our contract that benefits myself and my department. I have watched and been the recipient of a contract that works.”

My view has changed
“I have been very involved in my union for many years. I believed in the member-driven direction and vision that SEIU-UHW had when led by Ralph Cornejo and Sal Rosselli. I believed that this would continue under his leadership with NUHW. My view has now changed. After the election, NUHW leadership left their supporters without communicating. Our issues as members continued at our worksites and NUHW did not reach out to assist us. SEIU-UHW has been here trying to help us regain our unity so that we can be a strong, vibrant, member-driven union. It is time to put this fight behind us so we can again unite against management for the betterment of workers and workers’ rights.”
